PHP 5 Released

Ooh, PHP, the open-source web development tool used to power many websites has just undergone a major upgrade.

The new version has lots of cool things that will drive developers wild with delight, but nobody else will care about. Watch them drool over the new object model while you wonder what the fuss is about.

End users should benefit from the new features as developers incorporate them into their sites, but that's a longer-term thing.

Now I just have to persuade my webhost (or IPP - Internet Presence Provider - is apparently the new buzzword) to install it. May take some time considering they are still using 4.2.2 rather than the more recent 4.3.8.M/small>

I feel detachedly excited!

Since the most technically advanced thing I've done in PHP is a stupid toy (http://dgi.pyoko.org/upload/imagemake9.html), I feel like one of those hangers-on at technology shows, knowing what the stuff's about but not actually using any of it.

What an uninspired anaolgy.

In addition: IPP? Who thinks these things up?

Heh, thanks. Originally it was going to be the cornerstone of my world-encompassing empire of Internet stupid, but then I got bored and abandoned it. Now I mostly sit at home and play Ikaruga.
