SpaceShipOne

It's still unofficial, but it looks like SpaceShipOne has hit the 100km mark for the second tiem in two weeks, bagging the $10M X-Prize.

Edit: If the altitude on 368,000 feet or 112km is confirmed, it will mean SS1 has beaten the X15's old record of 107.9km. Cool.

I'm not sure if it's an official record, or what you would call it, but X15 holds/held the record for the highest altitude achieved by a "plane" rather than a "missile", which according to this website is/was 108,000m.

It's official now, congratulations to all involved.

It is good news.

I missed all the TV coverage by being in a "4 star, my arse" hotel with only 2 TV channels. At least I could get British newspapers a day late so I did read about this before I got back to Blighty.
