I've always found that notebook computers are always just a little too big to throw in the bag and bring everywhere, but PDAs just aren't "proper" computers. Now Sony have built the machine I want, the Vaio U101. It's a full featured PC, with 600MHz Celeron, 256MB RAM, 30GB HDD and built-in wireless LAN. But best of all, it's no bigger than a Robert Rankin hardback and weighs less than a kilo (880g). And it runs for at least 3 hours on battery (8 hours with enhanced battery).

I've got to find out if anyone's importing them here. At a little over $2000, it's a little pricey, but if I'm spending an hour on a train to work and back, it starts to look like a sound investment.

Isn't it pretty?

We'll see...
