lostcarpark: (Default)
Since about 11pm last night we've had rain, thunder, lightening, and more rain. An this morning I even saw a snow-covered car (harking from the wilds of Kilkenny). It is definately the sort of day for staying at home and putting one's feet up by the fire.

Unfortunately, I had a dental appointment, so this wasn't an option. My dentist is fairly close to the apartment, but far enough that he's really ackward to get to on a wet day. There's a bus going right by the practice, but I'd have a fifteen minute walk to the bus stop. I could drive, but parking is very bad in the area, so I'd probably have to drive around looking for a park then walk a long way back. So the only really viable option is cycling, and as I cover myself in rain gear, also the dryest.

Anyway, the appointment itself went fairly smoothly. One filling done and appointment for another in December. Then I should have a clean bill of dental health for another six months.

Oh, and a bit of excitement last night... about 11pm every fire alarm in the building starts blaring. Run out of the apartment to find the hall full of smoke and a concerned looking neighbour. She had arrived home and opened her door to find smoke billowing out. I ran back to call the fire brigade. When I got back, the smoke had cleared enough that we could get into the apartment and discover the cause - a storage heater. Apparently when they put warnings on storage heaters saying "do not cover", they really mean it. Someone had put a wooden boxing around the heater, which proved to be a really bad idea. The fire brigade duly arrived and checked out the situation, but there wasn't a lot for them to do.

Looking forward to TCASU and seeing everyone again! Bon voyage everyone.
