Road Works

I'm very gald that I started cycling to the station. This week workers have started digging up the road outside Drogheda Station. I assumed that this was a simple resurfacing, something that was badly needed on that section of road. However, I see there are sections of large pipe for sewage works, indicating that the works are of a more serious nature and likely to go for some time.

Temporary traffic lights are in place, allowing traffic to pass in only one direction at a time, causing a fairly serious tail-back in both directions. I reckon it would take a good ten minutes extra to drive to the station. [livejournal.com profile] madangie says the tailback has been up to twenty minutes at times.

The temporary lights aren't really adiquate, as they give no direction to traffic coming out of the station. I've seen cars start down the one-way section under a green light, only to be forced to reverse when they met an on-coming car coming out of the statoin.

Fortunately, I can whiz by it all on the bike.

In other news, I've been trimming my friends list a bit. Don't take it personally, I just have too much to keep up with. More will gradully be removed over the next while. Meanwhile, I've installed a temporary traffic light system on my friends page.
