Woke up this morning to find everything white and very pretty. It was lovely. I'd say around 3 inches of snow had fallen, which is a lot for Drogheda. It was still snowing and the roads looked iffy (not to mention, cold), so I asked
madangie if she'd mind giving me a lift to the station.
Sweetheart that she is, she said no problem, but by the time we got Jack dressed it was 8:20, and I optimistically thought I might make the 8:33 train. Normally it's a ten minute journey, but snow in Ireland isn't normal, and causes all kinds of chaos on the roads. We sat in traffic through Drogheda and waited. And waited. For most of the way we moved only a couple of car lengths at a time. It took about 45mins to reach the station, a journey of about 2km.
As it happened, the snow meant the train timetable had more or less been thrown out the window. It turned out an express train arrived about 5 minutes after I got to the station. It was a bit slow getting into Dublin, presumably getting stuck behind slower trains ahead, but all things considered, getting into work around 10:15 wasn't bad.
Jack, of course, was thrilled to see snow, though a little disappointed we didn't have time to stop and make a snowman. "That's the snow I ordered," he said.
