I'm still deciding what phone I want. Some people suggested Treos, bot O2 in Ireland don't do them, and I don't think anyone else does either. I might be able to get one and stick my SIM in it, but that would mean paying full price for it and not using my upgrade, and I think the network have some small print about connecting unapproved devices (but still, wouldn't it be fun to be responsible for bringing down the whole network?).

I was in the phone shop on Saturday, and the guy said that [livejournal.com profile] kryten's choice, the Nokia 6600, which I'd already been somewhat taken with, has been discontinued and is no longer available. However the O2 website still lists it, and says I can order one online. I'm quite tempted by it, and quite fancy some of the Symbian stuff, but it is a little pricey.

I'm also quite tempted by the Sony-Ericson T630. This does mean the quite scary notion of a non-Nokia phone. What if all of the shortcuts I've got used to don't exist? What if I can't figure out how to convert all of my address book entries into a format it understands (I can't transfer my address book through the SIM because I have multiple numbers under each name)? But it did seem very nice in the shop, so maybe I should just go for it.

Proof of the throwaway world we live in, [livejournal.com profile] madangie is mostly happy with her Motorola V300, but the battery won't hold its charge any more. I enquired about getting a new battery for it and was told €40-€50. The same phone new is now €29. She can also upgrade to the quad-band V535 for the same price and get a whole bunch of new features.

Anyone have any comments on either phone?
