ADSL is now available in my neighbourhood. Since I find a 4GB download limit absolutely absurd, I can't get the €49 "home" option, so I have to get the business option for €90 per month (+VAT).

However, if we divide the cost three ways, it isn't too bad...

It will take a couple of weeks to get it installed, but I can live with that.

That's horribly expensive compared to what I have. NTL *have* introduced a download limit but it's 1 gig per DAY. For around 55 quid a month I get loads of TV stations, a 600k broadband connection and a phoneline. You have my sympathies.

Hmm. SOMEBODY needs to remember to log out after getting around to looking at LJ...

I agree. It actually works out around 60 pounds (but about 75 when you add VAT), which is too much. If they dropped the capped option to €25 and charged €49 for the uncapped, it would be more in line with the rest of Europe. Their main reason for not doing this is they know they are going to lost a huge chunk of their leased line business. It's time they woke up and realised they're going to lose it anyway, and the quicker and cheaper they get ADSL rolled out, the bigger chunk of that pie they get to keep.

Hiya! Added you to my friends' page - I'm the Celtic Tiger blow-in (well, part of a nesting pair), you'll remember taking my picture in Belfast when I attended an awards ceremony for an absent American author....
