It feels like a long time since I've posted anything here, which means it probably is...

The last week or so has been pretty manic. Here's a vague list of things I've done, in no particular order...

Work. I've been winding down one project and starting up another at work. This involved a big conversion of data from an old system on Friday (with another two to do over the last week). It all went spiffingly intil I made a screw-up and had to spend a couple of hours getting back to where I was. On the new project, we haven't formally started yet, but I've set up stuff I know I'll need, and have been trying to get web-based grid controls to do the things I'll need them to.

House hunting. Saturday we went for a drive around Drogheda, which was good for increasing our knowledge of the area, and we spotted a few interesting looking houses for sale that we hadn't seen before. We've set up two viewings for Saturday and another for Monday (though Angie isn't too keen on being in Drogheda for 12pm as she's got a late night on Friday). My favourite is still this one.

Dentist. I've had a tooth that's been giving trouble for a little while. Well, actually I was told it needed filling when I was last at the dentist over a year ago (he filled one that was more urgent at the time that day). Since then I've been up to my eyes and going back to the dentist was a low priority. Even though I could feel a big hole with my tongue I put it off. But the last week or so it's been very sensitive to hot and cold, and food tended to gete stuck in it, so I at last got myself in the chair yesterday. It needed a root canal, which sounds really scary. For some reason, I'd got a picture that a root was the dental equivalent of a tripple bypass, and would require opening up the gum and performing surgery and stuff. It fact it turns out to just be a slightly bigger filling. He put an antiseptic into the root to make sure there isn't any infection, and put a temporary dressing over it. If everything goes to plan, he'll fill the root in two weeks, and put a while filling over it on a further session. It'll be good to have it all done, but not good for my bank balance. Brushing my teeth last night I suddenly realised how much it had been hurting every time I rinsed with cold water.

Apartment. I've been doing more to the apartment to get it ready to sell. The paint in the hall was a bit shabby, which was the first thing that hit you when you walked in. I still had the original can of yellow paint that I'd painted the hall with, but I wasn't sure what condition it was in. When I open the tin, the paint had seperated, but after a good stir it was quite usable. The tin, however, had suffered a few dents, andpart-way through the job it started leaking, so I taped over the hole. After the walls were looking good, I decided the woodwork really needed touching up to. Unfortunately, as soon as I toughed it with white pain it became obvious that it needed more than just touching up, and I had to go over all of the skirting boards. They look fantastic now, so it worth the effort. Some of the other woodwork in the apartment could really do with touching up, though. I took the day off yesterday, and my Mother very kindly helped out. She painted stuff on the tiles in the bathroom to make the grout look new, which worked a treat.

Viewings. Last the estate agent had five parties viewing the apartment. Apparently there was a lot of interest, and some of them were looking at it for quite a long time. I haven't heard if any of them are going to make an offer (I have one offer, but it's a fair bit short of what I'd like). Tomorrow the apartment will be advertised in the Irish Independant property section. Hopefully we'll have lots of people traipsing through it over the next few days.

Cinema. Haven't been to the cinema for a while (well, since T3), so on Sunday we managed to take time out to see American Pie: The Wedding. It was very funny, and it didn't really matter whether you'd seen the previous films (I'd seen the first but not the second). However it did have one scene that almose made me lost my pop-corn...

Website. Over the last while I've been sneaking little bits of time to work on the new look for LostCarPark. I actually started on a CSS2 design back in September 2002, but put it aside for a long time. During that time, I've learned a lot more about CSS, and how to cope with the various bugs in different implementations. Trying to get the site so it will validate as strict XHTML is not proving easy, though. It will have to stay transitional for now. I'll let you all know when the new version is ready.

Boring Relationship Stuff. It continues to amaze me how Angie and I have come to the point where we're about to move in together. I was sure I'd have done something to screw up everything by now. I've never been in a relationship like this one before, and it's a wonderful feeling. We both make mistakes, but we apologise and move on. We can see ourselves growing old together, and we both feel we're happier than we've ever been before. This can only be a good thing.
