Consequences
Aug. 23rd, 2004 05:21 pmI did a rather stupid thing this morning. Actually, it was over the weekend that I did the stupid thin, or rather, didn't do the smart thing, but it was this morning that the consequences hit me.
On Friday, I cycled to work, but got a lift home with
madangie, so my bike remained at the station. Angie needed to be in south Dublin early this morning, which would have meant a horribly early start from Drogheda, so she stayed with a friend, leaving me at home with no car. Somewhere between the two, I should have collected my bike from the station, but it slipped my mind. So this morning, as I was getting ready to leave, I suddenly realised I had no transport to the train station. It only takes ten minutes to drive, but it's a good half-hour walk, and byt the time I left, I only had 25 minutes to do it in, which meant I had to do a but of running to make up the difference. Fortunately, I was wearing a tee-shirt, and not my work shirt, otherwise I would not have been pleasent to sit next to.
To make matters worse, when I got off the train, the heavens opened. It's only a few hundred metres from the station to the office, but that's enough to get the bits that weren't covered by my raincoat distinctly damp.
I so need to go home and have a shower!
