The office I work is (I'll tell you more about that another time) is just a stone's throw from the American embassy in Dublin (okay, you would have to throw the stone very hard to reach it, and I suspect you might end up regretting it later). Needless to say, there have been a number of protests outside the embassy in recent weeks.

Today, however, we saw a small but noisy group marching down the street towards the building. As usual they carried banners, but I couldn't make out any slogans from six floors up. However they were also waving Stars and Stripes and what I'm reliably informed are Kurdish flags.

The Americans can feel liked for a little while. No doubt someone will show up to hate them next week...

Hmmm, why do you ask?

I know quite a few people from "up north", but most aren't particularly religious, and in the vast majority of cases I couldn't even tell you which side of the "religious divide" they come from.

However, I would suspect that those of that do practice their religion, those in the north would probably be more "fundamentalist" than people down here. If you equate that to "fucked up", then the answer would be yes...
