If you haven't seen today's Astronomy Picture of the Day, it's absolutely stunning:



I'm blown away. Contrary to my first impression, it is not a starship approaching a nebula. It is in fact an aurora over a communications tower in Norway.

That is stunning. It's still one of my ambitions to see the aurora.

Nicely done piccie. Aurora was something I never managed to do successfully in my Astrophotography phase. You quite often got them as far south as Middlesbrough (had to go up into the hills for a decent view though), although Scotland was much much better.
