Writing through treacle
Nov. 12th, 2004 04:30 pmLets hope this writing thing gets better soon. I'm not getting nearly as much as I want to done. This is partly because the story doesn't seem to want to be written at the moment, and partly because I'm not spending as much time as I need to.
A couple of years ago, I learned that it's much easier to write if you don't have distractions like the internet on your writing computer. Well, now I don't do anything except write on the Psion (that's not entirely true, I have a spreadsheet to keep track of my wordcount, but that's writing related). This year I learn that you also have to actually tear yourself away from the computer with the distractions and stick to the writing one.
I have a pretty good idea of where the story is supposed to go. The problem is there seem to be a few bridges down on the road there.
I keep saying, "right, if I write X words today, I'll be back on track." The only trouble is that X keeps getting bigger.
Still, I know this thing is doable. I just don't want to be writing 11,000 words in the last 24 hours this time!
