It's a week ago now, but went on a short steam train trip to commemerate 150 years of the viaduct over the Boyne, which completed the Dublin-Belfast railway line.
Oh, and the modern trains store the, er, pollutants, in a tank rather than depositing them on the track, so it doesn't matter where you flush any more (which is why they don't have signs telling you not to flush while the train is in a station).

Aww, that takes the fun out of it. One of the highlights of my holidays used to be waiting on the path under the rail bridge for the Enterprise (errr, the train ;O)) to come over at 90 mph, especially because there was the added bonus of the risk of being hit by 90mph poo....
