Orson Scott Card is also a very nice guy and an excellent writer, and he's written a rather glowing review of Serenity.

This is the kind of movie that I have always intended Ender's Game to be (though the plots are not at all similar).

And this is as good a movie as I always hoped Ender's Game would be.

And I'll tell you this right now: If Ender's Game can't be this kind of movie, and this good a movie, then I want it never to be made.

I think he rather likes it.

Can't wait to see it. The LostCarPark Unnofocial Cinema Going Committee are going on Sunday evening, but unfortunately I'll be on a plane to London. If I don't make it at the weekend, I might go see it in London next week. Any takers?

I have a bit of trouble reconciling "homeophobic nut" with "also a nice guy". I have enjoyed his writing, though.

Me too.

I think the problem is that he is a quite strongly religious person, and that his religion is a right-wing homophobic nut religion. Religions are very good at trapping people through their niceness.

Agreed. I have difficulty reconciling these, but I have met him in person, and it's really hard not to like him.

He has also written some of the best books I've come across on writing.

Not that I'm aware of, and certainly not intentioally. It would be a pretty freaky coincidence if we turn out to be doing the same course.
