Feb. 3rd, 2004 12:46 amWoke up a bit late this morning and had to leg it for the train.
Heard on the radio that a crane's fallen over at the station just before where I work, and the trains are all buggered up as a result. The train I got only went as far as Connelly Station, which left me with a half hour walk to get to work. Got in for 9:40, which wasn't too bad under the circumstances.
Work was okay, except that people keep finding bugs in the system. Discovered one bug in a piece of code that's shared between two systems. It would seem that every time I fixed it, it was affecting the other system, and was getting fixed back to work with it without my knowledge.
Checked everything's okay for Sci-Fi Club tomorrow. We're still in the pub's good books, despite a minor problem at our Christmas party. Some bad person took a knife to some of the seats in the pub. Naturally they were a bit miffed about it. We're almost certain we know who did it, and it wasn't a member or anyone who is involved in Sci-Fi in any way. We're going to be more careful to check new people know what's going on and not let just anybody wander in. From now on everybody will have to sign the new attendance book I bought today.
Getting home was a bit of a trial. Ended up just missing two trains (don't ask) and had to wait till 19:20 for one which didn't get in till 20:15. Went to the gym and had a really good workout. I'm getting to the point where I can really push myself, especially on the rower and the cross-trainer. Did 75 sit-ups without too much pain. I don't think I could exactly call myself fit, but I'm a lot less unfit than I was a few weeks ago. I should be reasonably well prepared for the snowboarding trip.
Got home to find lots of mail waiting for me (that's snail-mail - there's always lots of email, but most ot it's spam). There was the latest MH from the froods at ZZ9. There were some CDs from CD-Wow (yes hou can still get them cheap if you order them from the Hong Kong site). And best of all, my new digital camera from Amazon Initial impressions are good, though the camera bag that's supposed to be the right size seems too big. The battery is charging now, so I should be able to take some pics tomorrow. If any are worthwhile I'll post them here.
The wonderful
madangie had cooked lovely fishies, and made delicious fruit salid. Both were greatly appreciated. I love her for many things besides her cooking, but she does make simply delicious meals.
Getting ready for going away. I found my passport today, which is one worry out of the way. It would not be fun trying to get a replacement at short notice.
In just five days we'll be in the snow and conditions look good!
