This weekend the Great Lego Train Show takes place in Swindon:

Hope this link works - it's not easy on a phone!

This should be quite an event, with lots of Lego trains, as well as non-train displays. And all this on top of everything the museum normally has to offer.

I will definitely be there on Sunday, and I may be there for some of Saturday.

For anyone with a latent interest in Lego, this is a good chance to see where it's at these days.

The weather was horrible this morning, but now the sun has come out. I took a quick snap of the Jeanie Johnson, the replica 1840s famine ship that transported thousands of refugees escaping the famine that gripped Ireland at the time. The majority of the Irish population were almost totally dependant on the potato crop, and when it was wiped out by potato blight, they has nothing to fall back on. Between death and emigration, the population of Ireland fell from over 7 million to less than 3 in a few short years, and the Jeanie Johnson played its part by carrying many of them to America.
