Got to the station this morning to find a 4-car train instead of the usual 8-car one. Fortunately it was starting in Drogheda, so getting a seat wasn't a problem, but within a couple of stops it was approaching crush load, and a couple of stops later people were left standing on the platform, which is a bit unfortunate as there was a fairly bigh gap to the next train.

There were a couple of "we'd like to apologise for..." type announcements, but I couln'd hear exactly what they were apologising for.

Well, when you have a train very full with talking people, it can be hard to hear any announcement. But the ones this morning did seem quieter than usual. Quite clear, just not very loud. Could just be a soft-spoken driver.
