Just smelt burning on the train. Now it's stopped in the middle of nowhere. What's going on?

Trains...

Some of you may have noticed my earlier post, though I can't help a few more expressions of concern for my safety and wellbeing would have been in order.

The train didn't turn into a flaming inferno or plunge into a bottomless chasm. However, we were stuck in the middle of nowhere for over an hour. The official story was that a smoke detector malfunctioned. However, people at the front of the train said they saw flames, and I didtinctly smelt smoke, and malfunctioning smoke alarms don't generally cause either. Apparently people in the affected coach forced the doors open and clambered out onto the side of the railway. Eventually the train limped into Skerries, where the fire brigade were waiting. We then transferred to the next train, which was (fortunately) only a few minutes behind (there were several stacked up by then). It was after 8pm when I got into Drogheda, compared to the usual 6:40. Hope that doesn't happen too often.

I went straight from the train to the gym, which helped me to relax a bit. I continued my battle with the rowing machine, and managed to stick seven minutes on the thing. For the last minute I was really pushing it, and it felt pretty good. Had a nice swim and finished off relaxing in the jacuzzi.

Would love to stay and chat, but [livejournal.com profile] madangie's waiting for me in bed...

Oh, and eighteen days to snowboarding!
